Silver Eagles:
American Silver Eagle Coins
April 21, 2008 –
The U.S. Mint has notified its distributors that it will begin taking orders
today for Silver Eagles.
Although investors can place orders for Silver Eagles today, we do not
anticipate shipping Silver Eagles until the end of this week, or perhaps not
until early next week, because of the time it takes to get the coins in the
system.

Bill's Blog.
One-ounce American Silver Eagles are official US Mint one-dollar coins. Since Silver Eagle coins were introduced in 1986, more than
160 million have been minted, making Silver Eagles the most successful U.S. Mint silver bullion coins ever.
Each Silver Eagle coin contains one ounce .999 fine silver bullion and carries a symbolic $1 face value. The one-dollar face value makes Silver Eagles "silver dollars." In the coin industry, however, "silver dollars" refer to old silver dollars minted 1878-1904 and 1921-1935.
Further, the Silver Eagles' one-dollar face value officially makes American Silver Eagles legal tender. Because the law that permits the U.S. Mint to turn out Silver Eagles classifies them "numismatic," the Mint is allowed to sell Silver Eagles at prices above the one-dollar face value.
American Silver Eagles packaging
Silver Eagles are shipped by the Mint in boxes of 500. Each box contains 25 tubes with twenty Silver Eagles to a tube. A sealed box weighs 42 pounds and measures 15"X9"X5".
2008 Silver Eagles Prices
Silver Eagle coins are dated, come in tubes of twenty, and current year 2008 Silver Eagles sell at premiums of $2.05 each for a sealed Mint box of 500. At two boxes, the premium is $2.00. Minimum order is 300 coins (fifteen tubes), which sell at $2.20 each over spot.
Backdated American Silver Eagles often can be purchased at lower markups than current year 2008 Silver Eagle coins. If you would like to know which backdated Silver Eagles CMIGS has available, call. We usually have current year 2008 Silver Eagle coins.
